- Sounds like the problem I had with my SoundBlaster. When I tried to use
- it
- in full duplex (which I was not configured to do) the system would hang.
- Also,
- when I tried to use more than one dma channel (different high and low),
- the
- system would mega-hang. I found that on my system I could not use
- separate dma
- channels because there was a conflict of some sort (I ended up using the
- low
- dma channel for everything).

- Are you trying to talk full-duplex?
- Can you record and play back OK with your sound recorder?
- Does your modem use a dma channel that your sound card needs (conflict)?
