  24. Sounds like the problem I had with my SoundBlaster.  When I tried to use
  25. it
  26. in full duplex (which I was not configured to do) the system would hang.
  27. Also,
  28. when I tried to use more than one dma channel (different high and low),
  29. the 
  30. system would mega-hang.  I found that on my system I could not use
  31. separate dma
  32. channels because there was a conflict of some sort (I ended up using the
  33. low
  34. dma channel for everything).

  37. Are you trying to talk full-duplex?
  38. Can you record and play back OK with your sound recorder?  
  39. Does your modem use a dma channel that your sound card needs (conflict)?
